The Complete EveryDrop Buying Guide: Filters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and A in One Table
The 2-minute answer
Every EveryDrop fridge takes exactly one of six cartridges: Filter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or Filter A. They are not interchangeable, the numbers are not sizes or strengths, and the right one is decided entirely by your fridge model — which usually means by the number printed on the cartridge you already own. Find that number in the table below and you are done.
The complete table

Every row is the genuine cartridge, certified to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 and 401, with free US shipping on any amount here — against $59.99 (or $48 on subscription) at the official store. That is why shoppers hunting for discount refrigerator water filters end up comparing these six rows first: same genuine cartridge, $39.99 one-time, no subscription. Multi-packs of 2, 3 and 4 bring the per-filter price down further on every model.

Don’t know your number? Three ways to find it in 2 minutes
- Read the old cartridge. Pull the current filter out (or just open its housing) — the label carries either the Filter number or one of the old part numbers in the table. This is the most reliable method there is.
- Check the fridge’s own chart. Most Whirlpool-family fridges (Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, JennAir, and Kenmore models built by Whirlpool) carry a filter chart or model sticker inside the door liner or on an inner wall; match the model on the maker’s chart, then come back to the table.
- Use the location as a clue — cautiously. Filters that live in the base grille and filters that live inside the upper corner are different families, and two filters that look almost identical (Filter 1 and Filter 2 are the classic pair) fit different models. Location narrows it down; the label settles it. Never order on shape alone.
The confusions this guide exists to end
Filter 3 vs Filter 4 is the most common wrong order we see — the two fit different fridge generations, and our side-by-side comparison walks through which is which: https://discountedfilterstore.com/edr3rxd1-vs-edr4rxd1/
Old numbers are not different filters. 4396841 and 4396710 are simply Filter 3’s earlier names — the full story is here: https://discountedfilterstore.com/4396841-4396710-now-edr3rxd1/ . The same applies to UKF8001, which is Filter 4: https://discountedfilterstore.com/how-to-replace-edr4rxd1-ukf8001/
Filter A is its own shape. It is not “the first filter” and it is not interchangeable with Filter 1 — its explainer, with the fridge families that use it, is here: https://discountedfilterstore.com/everydrop-filter-a-edrarxd1-explained/
After you order: the change itself
Every one of the six is a no-tools change — twist or push the old cartridge out, seat the new one until it clicks, flush, and reset the filter light. The step-by-step for Filter 1, the most-owned model, is our walkthrough: https://discountedfilterstore.com/how-to-replace-edr1rxd1/ — and the same pattern (with each model’s own post linked from its product page) covers the rest.
One last warning that applies to all six rows equally: these are among the most counterfeited cartridges in the category, and a “genuine” filter at half the genuine price is the standard trap. The packaging and hologram checks are in our fake-spotting guide: https://discountedfilterstore.com/how-to-spot-fake-everydrop-filter/ — or skip the detective work and order the verified cartridge from the table above at $39.99, shipped free.
